Introduction

Brow Lift

A Brow Lift in Boise, or Eyebrow Lift, is a method to rejuvenation the eyebrow position and lift “heavy brows” to regain youthful and natural appearing eyelids.

The surgery is designed to rejuvenate the upper face, smoothing away heavy folds, lines, and wrinkles while tightening and toning the underlying muscles. It is often performed in conjunction with blepharoplasty to make the eyes appear revitalized.

Dr. Gray’s preferred method of Brow Lift is via the Minimal Incision Endoscopic Browlift. Endoscopic eyebrow elevation is the latest and most advanced technique for lifting the forehead and eyebrows.

It is important to note that Dr. Gray’s Endoscopic Browlift always includes a temporal brow lift. If the central forehead and central brow is lifted without the temporal lift, an unnatural “surprised look” can result.

How is a Minimal Incision Brow Lift Performed?

Dr. Gray begins by making a few small incisions behind the hairline. Through these small incisions, an endoscope and specialized instruments are inserted. The endoscope transmits images of the underlying tissues to a monitor, allowing Dr. Gray to visualize and adjust the brow area. Using these instruments, Dr. Gray releases the tissues, elevates and secures the brow to a more youthful position. The incisions are then closed, and the recovery process begins.

By utilizing the endoscope, Dr. Gray can precisely target the areas needing correction while minimizing trauma to the surrounding tissues and minimal scalp incisions are required.

Dr. Gray’s preferred brow lift technique is via the minimal incision approach; however, he is trained in traditional approaches as well.

One of the benefits of an endoscopic brow lift is that the incisions are small and hidden within the hairline, helping to minimize visible scarring. A Natural & Effortless Lift

Methods of Brow Lifting

The effectiveness of a brow lift is dependent on complete release of forehead attachments and retaining ligaments, enabling the brow to be redraped effortlessly (rather than pulled) to a more youthful position.

There are several brow lift techniques available. Dr. Gray favors the endoscopic brow lift because it reduces scarring and decreases the risk of forehead numbness or hair loss.

Minimal Incision Endoscopic Brow Lift

» Dr. Gray’s preferred method

Small 1-2 cm vertical incisions just behind the hairline are used and a surgical camera (endoscope) is used to release tethering ligaments along the forehead and brows. It is possible to avoid numbness at the top of the head with this technique.

Temporal Lift

A 2-3 cm incision behind the hairline and above the temples allows the sides of the brow to elevate.

Dr. Gray always performs Temporal Lifts with his Endoscopic Brow Lifts to ensure a natural lift that keep the central brow from have a “surprised look”.

Coronal Brow Lift

The incision, made about 4 cm behind the hairline, allows hairs to regrow through the scar, providing a more concealed scar. Temporary numbness at the top of the head is common.

Midforehead Direct Brow Lift

Incisions are made in the midforehead in deep creases which creates a scar which heals near invisible as it is camouflaged in a deep wrinkle. The skin is lifted and reapproximated to lift the midportion of the brow.
